Please read our chapter and take notes if you feel it necessary. These notes will not be used in class, but knowledge of the chapter and its sections will help you better understand the parts of our presentation.
Also please sign up for the Public (Free) version of creately.com and take a few minutes to play. This will be used in the presentation and this will help save time in class.
You will create a list of 5 rules that you would want a group to follow during a zombie apocalypse. However consider how those rules might translate over to a classroom setting. (Don't worry, this will make more sense during our presentation.) Please bring the rules into the classroom.
Also due Tuesday. Draw how you feel when you are extremely stressed. Make it as simple or fancy as you want. Ex.) Brittany said if she was to do this she would draw a ball of yarn that is jumbled up and messy. This would be a depiction of what is going on in her head when she is stressed.
Bring the drawing with you for Tuesday's class.
Also-sign up for Bubbl.us. It is pretty fast but we want you to do this so we don't waste time in class.
You will now take on one final Lit Circle role: the Researcher. Find another resource about a topic in organization that was not addressed in class. You can make a Pinterest board, Facebook page, or find at least two web pages or blogs. Explain why you believe that these would work in your future classroom in two to five sentences. Then e-mail us the links and the response. Add Dr. Theresa as well!
Your homework is to create a Comic Life depicting an actual scenario where a student has felt uncomfortable in your field experience. This Comic Life can show the setting it happened in, how the student felt, or a possible solution.
Also explain how you originally handled the situation. Now, using techniques and ideas you learned from the presentation, come up with one way to prevent the situation, and one way to defuse the situation. Be sure to show your reasoning (explanations do not have to be in the comic, but included in the end product somehow).
Due Saturday 4/26 before midnight. Research a community you would be interested in teaching in. Tell us about two community organizations that exist in the area that are geared to be able to support students and/or parents. Tell us two interesting issues that are important to this community and how you might address them. Please email this to us when you are done. __lacey.campbell@maine.edu__ __anna.leclair@maine.edu__ lauren.crosby@maine.edu
Due Friday 4/25 Write a paragraph about your thoughts or reflection about Taylor Mali's poem "What a Teacher Makes." To have the reflections all in one space, write your response in the comment section in the blog below.
Before: Think about a time when you have lost someone in your school system. If you haven't lost someone in your school system, then just think of a time you have lost someone in your life/community.
After (by midnight): Look at website (in next section ->) and complete the poll/survey.
After Team 1's presentation, there will be 20 minutes in which everyone gives feedback and takes a break; Team 2 sets up (Team 2 can wait to do feedback on Team 1 after their presentation)
Dr. Theresa has closing remarks, if any, based on presentation topic
Team 2 presents lesson
Everyone gives feedback to Team 2 (and Team 2 gives their feedback to Team 1)
